About Fenella.

Fenella began dancing at the age of 5 in Sydney, Australia. At age 12, she was awarded the prestigious Robert and Elizabeth Albert Full Classical Ballet Scholarship to attend The McDonald College School of Performing Arts, Sydney. There, she danced with the Premier State Youth Ballet Company and the Australian Ballet at the Sydney Opera House. While completing her Higher School Certificate, Fenella was awarded her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced II Certificate with Distinction, and upon completing High School, Fenella was offered a full scholarship to study Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance in New York City. During her 18 months in New York, Fenella was fortunate enough to dance in a number of Classical Ballet and Contemporary productions while touring NYC and Europe, and was exposed to many esteemed choreographers, making her curious about the variety of opportunities available for dancers.

Her career highlights include being offered multiple contracts dancing for the Walt Disney Company in Tokyo, Japan (3.5 years) and Shanghai, China (2 years). In Japan, Fenella was also offered several Adagio and Ballet contracts dancing with MS Asuka II (a company that tours worldwide). In Australia, touring nationally with The Wiggles dancing the role of Fairy Claire, dancing and touring with Sydney Ballet Theatre, and dancing the featured role of Josephine, a famous Russian Ballerina, on the ABC television series ‘Dance Academy’, were also professionally gratifying and personally rewarding.

Fenella also has a keen interest in academia and was recently awarded her Bachelor of International Public Health with Distinction from the University of New South Wales. During her final semester at UNSW, Fenella dedicated her capstone project to researching the benefits of dance and music for children living with disability.

As well as performing professionally, Fenella has always been a dedicated and respected Ballet teacher in Australia and overseas. Her teaching experience spans over a decade and includes the Arts in Education Program NYC (teaching Ballet to high school students from marginalised communities), Caper School of Performing Arts Sydney, Turning Point Academy of Dance Sydney and most recently Brent Street Studios (Australia’s largest Performing Arts School). Her experience dancing professionally together with her teaching credentials, allows her to emphasise with dancers and teach with a high level of care and attention to detail.
